The Festival, the Fashion, the Free People

Coming to you via the Free People Festival Look Book
Festival chasers, moonlight dancers, and free spirited wanderers, grab your feathers and cutoffs; summer in just around the corner. As the temperature increases, festival enthusiasts everywhere get ready to welcome another glorious sun filled season (fingers crossed for the sun filled part) and a chance to see some of their favorite artists perform live.

The summertime festival season not only brings friends together and inspires road trips cross country, but also ignites the hippy chic movement. The music festival Coachella (Indio, CA), even though technically a springtime festival, was one of the year that kick started the feathered head pieces to move from costume drab to hippy haute and crocheted one pieces from the bathing suits of our mothers to the perfect complement to cutoff shorts and a hunky crystal necklace. Flocks of barefooted youths skipped and swayed their way through the lines and tents that surrounded the Polo Fields, which had been transformed into an illuminated playground for attendees to explore.

The fashion of the festival, despite the sweltering temperatures and excess perspiration, was just another element that added to the festival's aesthetic appeal.  Boutiques and retail chains alike have designed entire collections and garments that embody the free spirit and vitality of the summertime festivals, and Coachella was a showcase of these fashionable creations.  Girls floated into the festival covered from head to toe in feathers, studded cutoffs, and even their feet were adorned with crochet footsies.  Free People has created the "Festival Shop" just for the festival hopping ladies. The light and airy pieces such as their Daisy Tunic cater to the rising temperatures and leave you looking carefree and ready to twirl your way to the front of the stage.
